Gay Community Activists Split over 2010 Ballot Initiative Fight

The Los Angeles Times reported this morning that several gay marriage groups, including Equality California, have announced that they do not support mounting an initiative in 2010 to legalize gay marriage because they cannot be sure of victory. This announcement took other homosexual groups by surprise and was ridiculed by some of them. This rift shows that there are many factions in the gay community who are determined to pursue their agenda with or without their allies. The recent federal lawsuit (Perry v. Schwarzenegger) seeking to invalidate Prop 8 and the nation’s marriage laws was brought by a new, outside group with independent access to funding. It was only after this group secured the services of two high-profile attorneys to represent them that others in the gay community agreed to support their cause.

Anti-Prop 8 Bill Heads to Assembly Floor
Tell Your Assembly Member: "Vote No on SB 54"

As anticipated, SB 54, the out-of-state same-sex "marriage" recognition bill, passed the Assembly Judiciary Committee today by a 7 to 3 majority (along party lines -- Dem./Rep.) It moves to the Assembly floor where it will probably be voted on after the legislature returns from their summer vacation on August 17.

For background on the bill and the underhanded tactics being used to push it through the legislature go to http://ccgaction.org/family/CA/AB54-2009.

11 Hour “Gut and Amend” Tactic:
Healthcare Bill Becomes Anti-Prop 8 Measure
Tell Assembly Judiciary Committee: Vote No on SB 54

Because of a legislative slight of hand tactic called "gut and amend", we are called on once again to defend Prop 8 in the California Legislature. A hearing on SB 54, a bill to recognize same-sex "marriages" from other states is scheduled to be heard in the Assembly Judiciary Committee on Thursday, July 9.

The bill authored by Senator Marc Leno (D- San Francisco) started as healthcare legislation, passed the Senate floor, moved to the Assembly where it passed the Health Committee. On its way to the Assembly Judiciary Committee, something changed – EVERYTHING CHANGED. All the original language was stripped out and an attack in Prop 8 was substituted -- after it had been reviewed by three legislative committees and passed the Senate as a completely different bill.

The bill seeks to recognize same-sex “marriages” from other states. If the out-of-state same-sex “marriages” took place after the passage of Prop 8, all of the rights and privileges would still be recognized, except for the use of the word “marriage”.

Answering the Top 10 Arguments Used to Push Homosexuality

These 10 answers will help you refute the arguments commonly used by the homosexual movement to force same-sex “marriage” on America.

1. “We’re equal under the law, so we’re getting married.”

It is true that everyone is equal under the law. This equality, however, is juridical, not biological.  It does not and cannot eliminate the anatomical, physiological and psychological differences between the sexes, which create the conditions for marriage and constitute its natural foundation.

Hoye Sentenced for Unjust Conviction
Courageously Refuses Conditions of Probation

Walter Hoye is supported by Catholics for the Common Good (CCG) Pro-life activist
On Thursday afternoon, February 19, 2009, Judge Stuart Hing sentenced Walter Hoye to 30 days in jail, imposed a fine of $1,130, and placed him on probation for three years with a condition that he stays more than 100 yards away for the abortion clinic where he was arrested.

Walter refused to accept the terms of the probation because it would abridge his First Amendment rights. He indicated that he would follow the law, but would not accept the proposed restrictions. The judge then said he was going to impose probation in Rev. Hoye anyway, which is illegal. Attorneys and Reverend Hoye met in chambers for hours with no resolution. The sentencing was continued until March 20, and Walter left today with his wife, free and with no restrictions.

If the 30-day sentence remains in place, Walter Hoye ...
