Tell Your Assembly Member: "Vote No on SB 54" As anticipated, SB 54, the out-of-state same-sex "marriage" recognition bill, passed the Assembly Judiciary Committee today by a 7 to 3 majority (along party lines -- Dem./Rep.) It moves to the Assembly floor where it will probably be voted on after the legislature returns from their summer vacation on August 17. For background on the bill and the underhanded tactics being used to push it through the legislature go to http://ccgaction.org/family/CA/AB54-2009. SB 54, which is a clear violation of Article I, section 7.5 of the California Constitution (Prop 8), seeks to recognize same-sex “marriages” from other states. Please ask your Assembly Member to vote no on SB 54. This is just one more example of the relentless attacks on Prop 8. It underscores the importance of CCG's marriage advocacy organizing and training efforts. Support needed We still must raise $3,000 by this Friday and $9,500 by the end of the month to maintain operations. Please make a tax-deductible donation today of any amount -- $10, $25, $50 or more. Consider signing up for monthly donations to help sustain this effort. Every dollar goes into volunteer recruitment, organization, education, and training.
