S.761 has not been referred to the House Committee on Education & Labor yet, but that is the likely place the bill will be sent. When you speak to the Committee leadership, refer to S761, the bill that will soon be coming to their committee.

In response to requests for a summary of talking points, we've included them in this update. (See below.)

UPDATE: S.761, America COMPETES (poorly) Act

LAST SHOT FOR BORDER SECURITY!
Don't Give Up Now!!
We Need 2 Million Voices Strong!!!

Today the Senate took a major step toward Amnesty by casting their first vote in favor of cloture. A final cloture vote is expected Thursday opening wide the floodgates of Amnesty! We MUST stop this final cloture vote from advancing a devastating Immigration Bill to the Senate floor for a vote!

32 DEFINITE 'NO' ON AMNESTY CLOTURE -we need 41-Please call your senators NOW!- Thank you!

Take a look at this list -- figure out what you should do with Senators from your state or neighbor   DEAR FRIENDS,

We need 41 Senators to vote NO on cloture next Tuesday or to not show up for the vote.

Sen. Johnson (D-S.D.) is still seriously ill and expected to be a no-show.

We believe we have solid commitments from 32 other Senators that they will vote NO on cloture that would allow the Kennedy/Bush amnesty (S. 1639) to come to the Senate floor for debate.

That would give us 33 of the 41 we need.

Congratulations to all of you who have elected Senators solidly in our camp or who have persuaded Senators to move to the anti-amnesty side -- those Senators in this list:

PLEASE DO NOT BE WEARY IN WELL-DOING

DEAR FRIENDS,

Voting on whether to bring the Kennedy/Bush Comprehensive Amnesty bill back to the floor of the Senate could begin as early as tomorrow (Wednesday). And if that wins, a cloture vote could occur Friday.

All of us must tell our Senators that any YES vote on any provision that puts the bill on the floor or moves it forward WILL be considered a VOTE FOR AMNESTY.

Insist on a NO for all procedural votes.

I'm including in this email links to two short papers that will be of great help (as Terry notes above) to you as you contact your two U.S. Senators today:

  • All the basic facts of the Senate comprehensive amnesty bill.
